Tangshan (唐山; Tángshān) is a city in Hebei. Tangshan is also renowned as the country's largest steel-making city, although it has been reducing its steel output to improve air quality.

Understand

Tangshan is a large administrative area known as a prefecture, with a population of 2,550,000 (2020). Within this prefecture are the urban areas of Tangshan proper and several other cities, including Zunhua, which is home to the Eastern Qing Tombs, as well as Luanzhou and Qian'an. Tangshan was named after Dacheng Mountain (formerly known as Tangshan) located in the central urban area. During the Shang Dynasty, it belonged to the Guzhu and Shanrong states. In the Warring States period, it was part of the Yan territory, and in the Han Dynasty, it belonged to Youzhou.

Get around

The earthquake memorial and park in the centre of town on Xinhua Road is an important focal point. Tangshan is among the largest Chinese cities without a subway system. Tangshan bus. Visitors can wear Hanfu to visit, interact with NPCs to complete tasks, earn silver tickets, and use the banknotes to exchange for fruits and vegetables, cultural and creative gifts, etc. You can also watch many live-action dramas and national intangible cultural heritage performances, which will fully satisfy your sense of experience. ¥98. Eat

Seafood is a big part of Tangshan cuisine, featuring an abundance of crabs, shrimp, and clams freshly caught from the Bohai Sea, during the months when a fishing ban is not in effect. To experience a wide variety of local seafood, visiting one of the city's seafood buffets is recommended. Three Fishermen (渤海三个鱼夫蒸汽海鲜自助). This restaurant offers a unique dining experience where patrons can take a bucket to an aquatic market in the center of the establishment. Here, you can fill your bucket with fresh crabs, shellfish, and other seafood. Once you've made your selection, place it in a large pan in the middle of your table for steaming.

Drink

Guzhu Guo Liquor (孤竹国酒). A handcrafted spirit with a history dating back to the Shang and Zhou dynasties. It is made using traditional distillation techniques and is known for its rich and mellow flavor. Yutian Old Liquor (玉田老酒). With a long brewing history, this liquor was once served as an imperial tribute. Represented by the “Fengnian” brand, it is famous for its distinctive and unique taste. Produced by Hongyuan Distillery in Yutian County, this liquor has been recognized as a “China Time-honored Brand” and is listed as a Hebei Provincial Intangible Cultural Heritage.
