About Kununurra
Kununurra is a town in the east of the Kimberley region of Western Australia, 45 km from the border with the Northern Territory. It was created from 1958 when an ambitious irrigation project dammed the River Ord and created a large fertile area. A second dam created the huge Lake Argyle; both barrage lakes are recreational areas. In 2021 Kununurra had a population of 4500.
